Question 1 of 3

Face shape from a photo

Let your photo find your face shape

Take a selfie or choose a photo of just you. For the best result:

  • Look straight at the camera, phone at eye level
  • Neutral face, glasses off
  • Hair back off your forehead and jaw
  • Bright, even light, no hands on your face

Your photo never leaves your phone. We read it right here on your screen. Nothing is uploaded or saved.

Step 2

Know your size

The easiest way to find your size is a pair of glasses that already fits you well. Three numbers on the inside of the arm tell you everything.

1243side view
  • 1Lens width: how wide each lens is, usually 46 to 58 mm. This is the number sizes are based on.
  • 2Bridge: the gap between the lenses that sits on your nose, usually 14 to 22 mm.
  • 3Temple length: the arm, from hinge to tip, usually 135 to 150 mm.
  • 4Frame width: the whole front, hinge to hinge. It should match the width of your face at the temples.

Read it off your old pair

Look on the inside of the left arm. You'll see three numbers, sometimes with a small square between the first two.

Inside the arm53 □ 16  145
53lens width
16bridge
145temple length

A new frame within 2 to 3 mm of these numbers will feel very similar. All numbers are in millimetres.

NarrowLens 50 mm or less

For slimmer faces and smaller features. Frame width is usually under 130 mm.

MediumLens 51 to 54 mm

Fits most adults. Frame width is usually 130 to 139 mm.

WideLens 55 mm or more

For broader faces, or if frames often pinch at the sides. Frame width is usually 140 mm or more.

No old pair? Try the card trick

  1. Stand in front of a mirror with any bank card or ID card.
  2. Hold the card flat under your nose, with one short edge lined up with the centre of your nose.
  3. Look at where the other edge ends. If it goes past the outer corner of your eye, try Narrow. If it reaches the corner, try Medium. If it stops short, try Wide.

How a good fit feels

  • Your eyes sit near the centre of each lens.
  • The frame is about as wide as your face, with no gap and no squeeze at the sides.
  • The bridge rests on your nose without pinching or leaving deep marks.
  • The arms run straight back and curve gently behind your ears.
  • The glasses stay in place when you look down or smile.
